You can pay for your Hereditary Cancer test in advance. Each person being tested will need to complete your requisition and pay for a test. The cost of the test will either be $600 or $950, depending on the panel selected. Charges will be incurred at the time of online payment. Tests are refundable up until the time you have your sample collected.
You are encouraged to check with your private healthcare insurer to see if coverage is provided. You should also check if funding is available in your province.

Access personalized requisition from your email

You will receive your personalized requisition in the confirmation email after paying for the test online.
This requisition will be personalized to your order.
3

Have requisition signed by your healthcare provider

Print and bring the requisition form you received in the order email to your healthcare provider for signature.
Requisitions not signed by a healthcare provider cannot be processed and labs will be unable to collect the required sample(s).
4

Provide a blood sample

Hereditary Cancer Testing requires a blood sample that can easily be collected.
If you are a resident of Ontario, Saskatchewan or British Columbia: You can visit any LifeLabs Patient Service Centre to have your blood sample collected. You must bring the same order confirmation requisition that you had signed by your healthcare provider. Our staff cannot collect a blood sample without the correct requisition signed by a healthcare provider. For your convenience and to reduce wait times we recommend booking an appointment.
If you are a resident in the rest of Canada: Please contact Ask.Genetics@LifeLabs.com to arrange for collection.

Get your results & schedule a post-test counseling

Test results will take 6 weeks. Test results will be sent directly to your physician for their review and follow-up discussion with you. We recommend that you schedule an appointment with your physician after your blood sample is collected to review the results. Counseling with a genetic counselor from our genetic team can also be arranged following receipt of results.
