Temporary discontinuation of Expanded Carrier Screening Test until further notice.
Starting March 3, 2024, the Expanded Carrier Screening test by LifeLabs Genetics will be temporarily discontinued until further notice.
When is this happening?The last day we will be accepting requisition forms related to Expanded Carrier Screening is March 3, 2024. Any tests ordered and samples received by LifeLabs until this date will be processed and reported back to the ordering healthcare provider, respecting the usual timelines.
We apologize for any inconvenience, and we want to thank you for your continued trust and confidence in LifeLabs as your partner for genetics needs.
How do I access my requisition?If you have already purchased the test online from our website, you have two options to access your requisition –
- Email: Search your inbox for a notification from LifeLabs containing your order number, and a link to download the requisition, and follow the next steps for completing your test.
- Order status: Sign in by entering your email address, order ID, and one-time passcode that you had set before ordering the test.
If you already have your personalized requisition, please print it, and bring the requisition to your healthcare provider for signature.
How do I complete the sample collection?You have two options to complete your sample-
- Saliva: The easiest way to have your sample collected is to request a Saliva Sample Collection Kit be sent to your home. To make these arrangements call 1-844-363-4357 or email Ask.Genetics@LifeLabs.com.
- Blood: Visit any LifeLabs Patient Service Centre to have a blood sample taken. For your convenience, you may book an appointment to reduce waiting time. If you are outside Ontario, British Columbia, or Saskatchewan, please contact Ask.Genetics@LifeLabs.com to organize your collection.
Your test results will be sent directly to your healthcare provider for their review and follow-up discussion with you. We recommend that you schedule an appointment with your healthcare provider three weeks after your blood sample is collected to review the results. You will also have access to a post-test genetic counselling session with a board-certified genetic counsellor through Invitae (our test provider), to review your results in more detail until March 15, 2024.
